Stories of Early Labrador

Harvey Montague was born in 1909, his parents were Robert Montague and Hannah Michelin. A. Fred Bailey graduated from Ground Repair’s course in Illinois, and was looking forward to an overseas assignment.  A poem by Cec Fry, issue called John Michelin. Most of the men, 60 years ago were complex personalities. Poem By Verna Mesher called Henry Nelson Mesher. Bill Brown’s dad came from Devonshire, England in the 1800’s. Clarence Brown lived in Eagle River but not that part of it. People from Newfoundland came to Labrador in Schooners and lived off the land. There is a smell of salty air , bake apples and fish smoking in the smoke house all mixing together. Viola Toomashie wrote a poem called Tribute To Labrador Women. Leander Roberts lived with his grandmother growing up. Keep Us Free is a poem by Jim Pardy. School wasn’t finished long before we’d go trout fishing. On August 1st, 1891, the first northbound coastal steamer arrived Red Bay.
