Our Wedding Day
"We had this awful, awful big storm just before our wedding and it looked like we might not be able to have it on the day we wanted. Everybody was fishing then and the sea was high. Our best man was going to be Harold Andersen, who was fishing with his father and his brother in a fishing place called Strawberry Harbour. Hellen, his girlfriend, was going to be my maid of honour. She was down to a place called Ikey's Point where her people fished. Neither of them could get in."

A Winter in Hospital
"When I was a little girl, I didn't eat beets. Then I started eating them. It was just getting in the fall, the people were going in the bush, into the courntry, because they always went in then. I had TB and Dr. Padon said I had to stay in the old hospital at North West River. I was about then or eleven years old."

Settlers on the South Side: Where Did They Go?
"Aunt Dudsey was a 'Sabby' Michelin, meaning she was from Sebaskachu. The family moved to North West River, first for work, then stayed to be near the hospital when George got sick. They lived in the Revillon Frères property."
