Our Summer of '42
"While we two older boys were out in the motorboats on the fishing grounds, young John amused himself on the stage at Packs Harbour. One day Mum looked out from the house to see him stretched out at the end of one of the structural beams that jutted out beyond the deck of the stage. At low tide it was over twenty feet to the water."

Bonfires on Birch Island
"A lot of kids, especially the older ones, carried torches to light their way to the bonfire. There weren't any street lights on the island so the night was pitch black. Milton said the torches were made with old rags tied to a stick handle or wound on with wire the rag was dipped in tar and kerosene and lit."

922nd Memorial Plaque Dedication at Cartwright
"After four days of cold and rain the day of dedication was beautiful and sunny. We estimated about 60 - 70 people showed up for the ceremony. Bob had ball caps made with the 922nd logo on the frong. These were presented to the former civilian employees and those who had donated to the cost of the plaque."
