(NOTE) William John Winter's parents were not named on his attestation papers. His records indicated that a telegram was sent to Edmund Winters of Voiseys Bay informing him that Wm. had been admitted to hospital. Also noted is that a portion of his pay had been allotted to his brother, Richard Winters of Nain.

He received the Victory Medal and the British War Medal.
