Them Days Vol. 11 No. 1 – 1985

100th anniversary of October 11th, 1985  of Labrador Gale of 1885, known of the October Gale of ’85. 19 legends were gathered by J. Garth Taylor at Nain, Makkovik and North West River, Labrador. Sybilla Nitsman was born in Okak, She says she remembers Big Hospital, A Big Meeting House and a Church, stores and lots of houses. Rev. George W. Sach says small community seems extra busy, and man always finds much to do. William Tracy says he went fishing with his dad when he was 11 years old. John O’Brien wrote a poem called Charlie’s Roast.
