Vol. 49.2 – Lydia Campbell Headstone Ceremony
Them Days, in partnership with the Department of Labrador Affairs and North West River’s Mina Campbell, held a ceremony to honour Lydia Campbell and replace the headstone at her gravesite in Mulligan. Lydia Campbell was an author and Labradorian matriarch. She was born in born in Hamilton Inlet in Nunatsiavut in 1818 and lived a full life until she died in Mulligan in 1905. Campbell was the first person from Nunatsiavut to publish a book and her writings are looked at today as a valuable piece of history.
